The waterfront walk that anchors everything

Start with Wulugul Walk, the six-hundred-metre promenade that curls around the precinct's harbour edge. It connects the ferry hub at Barangaroo to the tower's lobby doors, and it is the single best orientation walk in the city: Opera House to the east, Harbour Bridge arching behind you, and the tower ahead. Our guests who arrive by airport transfer usually stretch their legs here before check-in — luggage goes ahead with the driver.

Within ten minutes of the lobby

• The Cut & the cliff walk — a carved sandstone passage that recreates the 1830s shoreline, best photographed before 10:00;
• Barangaroo galleries and public art — rotating installations in the tower lobbies, most of them free;
• Ferry hops — regular services to Manly, Taronga Zoo and Watsons Bay from the wharf at the precinct's north end;
• The Casino Green — a lawn terrace above the water where sunset crowds gather an hour before dusk.
